All Star BBQ

Kudos!!!! To the Taste Talks Booklyn Expo. Had an exceptional time as always. Of course one of the highlights was the All Star BBQ. The great thing about this event  is the mash up of chefs, artists and personalities. Check out  some of the goodness. Pinky

Taste of Williamsburg/Greenpoint

unspecified

In my book, one of the most solid neighborhoods in the food and drink scene is Williamsburg. So many dope spots opened up this year alone, joining some old classics. Stop all that noise, good ol’ Billy Burg is still the place to hang especially is your questing for food.  Can’t hit every restaurant so I suggest you go to the Taste of  Williamsburg/Greenpoint for  a foodgasm .

Pig Island

Pig Island is a do not miss event. When ever Jimmy and the Food Karma put together event, do me a favor and scoop up tickets. All through the year, the team throws all different themed events. This one can be the Granddaddy of all of them. Pig Island will be taking place in Red Hook Brooklyn at Erie Basin Park, next to Ikea. Soak in the sun, have a few cold ones at some pork from some of the finest pit masters and chefs.

Harvest in the Square

In its 21st year, Union Square will have a sweet aroma of some of the best the city offers. Expect a diverse lineup under the New York skyline. Always a fun and festive event. Some of my personal highlights include , artisanal flavors of Black Barn, the freshness of the The Poke Shop and everyones favorite Hill Country Chicken.

Taste Talks Brooklyn

taste talks

The end of Summer is near. Time to put away my collection of tiki inspired shirts and break out some my camo and corduroys. Well, not quite yet. There is still an BBQ to two I need to attend. Right around the corner is Taste Talks Brooklyn Festival. Last year the festival was curated by ?love of the The Roots. This year will be just as good with James Beard winner Sean Brock taking over the curating duties. The weekend is full of conferences, round tables and of course food. My personal favorite event of the weekend, would have to be the All Star BBQ. This year chefs on board includes Leah Cohen (Pig&Khao) , Bill Durney (Hometown BBQ) and Matthew Hyland (Emily).

Tuome Deviled Egg

Here at Pinkyfingerup, we are feeling kind of lucky these days. One of the grandest food festival in the  country is right around the corner.  The Lucky Rice Festival, spearheaded by globe traveling foodie Danielle Chang, presents the ever so popular Grand Feast. Now,in its seventh year, the event will be in Brooklyn after spending it residency at the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan.

Once again, the event is sponsored by American Express and Bombay Sapphire Gin. Throughout the evening  there will be bites representing some of Asian countries. Some of the eateries confirmed include Chomp Chomp (Singaporean), Maharlika (Filapino) and June Lan Club(Chinese). If your an adventurous eater, this is the event you need to attend. If you have a palate  that likes a little zing and spiciness there will be various options for you. One reason why I personally enjoy this event is the many l memories I’ve had. At the Grand Feast was the first time I’ve tasted a cricket from the Black Ant team. Also, hands down had the best tasting deviled egg ever from Tuome.  Come explore and leave with a memory that will be grand.

Cocktail Magic Spring 2016

Back in 2012, I was able to attend an one of a kind event in the historical Prospect Park. It was like a Centaur of events, part music festival, part seminar and  part food experience. Throw in some nice sunshine and you have a fine beautiful mess . The Great GoogaMooga was a delightful shindig but then again I had all access. After a two year run, some haters put a stop to the great one.

Forward to now, the same team behind Googa has crafted up a new spectacular. Superfly is bringing us a new spirit driven event called Cocktail Magic.  Looks like its going to be sweet. The lineup includes some of my favorites Julie Reiner and Ivy Mix, so it should be one for the ages. Besides cocktails and magic is an awesome combo.

Big up Superfly
