It’s been a long time coming putting together this site. I guess you could say it’s been my whole life, as I developed my palette. I come from a humble Jamaican household where my parents always made a home cooked meal with just the Jamaican essentials. Don’t get me wrong, we had our bi-monthly trip to Micky D’s for my regular filet-o-fish, but It was the traditional West Indian staples; rice and vegetables that kept our family going. To be honest, I had never ate at Wendy’s or even had my first Popeye’s fried chicken until I lived on my own in my early 20’s.
From the late 1990’s to the mid 2000’s, you would find me at the hottest industry parties. Hip-hop was my first love. I am hip-hop. After 9/11, the New York hip-hop scene changed and using my media credentials, I started my new love affair with food.
Over the past 5 to 6 years, I have been a regular on the thriving food scene from volunteering at shows and covering tastings. I’ve been invited to cover most major food events in New York. Chefs and major players in the local scene started to recognize me at every event. This has all led me here. I decide to start my own site to show my affection for food with a hip-hop twist.
