Union Square has always been  a special place for me.  If its protesting , going to the farmers market, playing chess  or simply sitting on the benches on crisp Fall night.  Union Square is sooooo NYC!

For the past 23 years, the Union Square Partnership has transformed the square into a eating and drinking haven for one night. One special evening where some  of the neighboring restaurants come together under one roof.  Harvest in the Square has turned into one of the most popular tasting  events the city has to offer.  Perfect setting, the weather usually is like a partnership of Summer and Autumn and of course the food is spot on.

Some of the participating restaurants include Daily Provisions , Nur and Le coq Rico to name a few.

This year marks the  15th anniversary of this fantastic event. This annual  benefit supports women facing ovarian and breast cancer. The lineup includes some of the finest chefs in the city.  The event will  return back to the Chelsea Piers.

Good ol’ summertime fun.  Summertime is not the same  without having a bbq and stuffing your face with some burgers. Since I’m trying to shed a few pounds, I havent had a decent hamburger experience . Bushwick has come a long way.  Back in the days, Bushwick was far from the neighborhood to be hanging out at .  But over the past 10 years, Bushwick is actually turning into a tourist attraction. The great art walls, one of the best thrifting neighborhoods and sea of new restaurants and bars to turn up at.

This upcoming Tuesday, some of Bushwick’s finest will be under one roof .  The lineup includes Archies Pizza, Gaudalupe Inn,  Sally Roots and one of my favorite local breweries KCBC.  The venue is dope and the ticket price is  reasonable.

As a Brooklynite, I don’t have the opportunity to pop up in Harlem as much.  There is so many reasons to head  uptown now with all the new eateries and bar.  There is now a true Harlem Renaissance again. This weekend is a real good reason  to embrace Harlem World. One of the most fun- filled eating weekend starts this week . The summer season is almost here and  that means tons of great events in our city. My top choice for the months of May/June will be the 11th annual  Taste of the Upper West Side . I’ve been supporting this since the first year. Every year this event keeps growing and gets better with age.  Like the past few years,  there will be two nights of  exploring the tastiest bites that the neighborhood  has to offer.  I’m crossing my fingers that the newly opened Lucky Pickle Dumpling Company  will be previewing some of the pickle soft serve I  keep hearing about.  People, get your tickets to this well organized and fun event.  Trust me . The folks of the Upper West side sure knows how to throw a party

 

 

Sorry for the brief hiatus. The good ol’ groundhog saw its shadow, so it’s time to escape hibernation state. With few more weeks left of  this rather easy winter, it’s almost time to get up, get out and do something. First way to celebrate this new year is by attending events during NYC Beer Fest. If your a fan of beer. The opening day bash has a lineup  of some the top breweries in the states.  New England juiciness from Trillium and then some of west coast finest from Monkish.
